Top Gun Flight School

At iParaglide Top Gun Flight School, we take pride in having taught over 1900 paragliding students in our 26 years of operation.

We are the the longest running school based in Metro Vancouver. Due to our central location, we are the only school that flies all of the relevant kiting parks, training hills and mountains within a 3 hour radius of Vancouver.  This empowers pilots to get to know the key training and flying spots early, optimizes and accelerates learning, and allows them to grow into great future pilots.  

We have the reputation of being an industry leader with an emphasis on engineered safety systems, quality instruction, the finest equipment and a positive learning environment for fun and empowering flying.

We offer the highest level of accreditation, with Senior HPAC and Advanced USHPA paragliding instructors, who coach from first flight to expert paraglider pilots and teach and qualify new paragliding instructors.

Paragliding Weather Forecast for the Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton area, based on data available at 0500.

High pressure with sunny skies.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft NW to 11 km/hr becoming W to 15 km/hr. Valley wind light E outflow to 10 km/hr becoming inflow to 15 km/hr. Novice peak lapse rate -1.6C/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable. Valley winds light and variable becoming NW to 10 km/hr. Intermediate peak lapse rate -2.4C/1000ft.

1. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.3C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Woodside for P2 pilots 0800-2000. Bridal should be great today with P2 conditions 1000-2000.  Paragliding chances 90%. 

2. Paragliding Seattle: -2.4C/1000ft Intermediate peak lapse rate. Tiger should be great today with P2 conditions 0800-1400 and 1800-2000 with P3 conditions 1400-1800. 90% chances for paragliding. 

3. Paragliding Vancouver: -1.6C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Grouse for GMFT P3 Intermediate Pilots 1000-2000.  90% chances to paraglide. 

4. Paragliding Bellingham: -1.7C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Blanchard for P2 pilots 0800-2000. Paragliding prospects 90%.   

5. Paragliding Pemberton: -3.7 C/1000ft XXX peak lapse rate. Forecast lapse rate is suspect of being higher than actual, looking more like a 3.0 day. Watch for extreme heat to 39C! and choose to fly or not accordingly. Mt. Mackenzie for P2 pilots 0800-1300 then watch for increasing heat, lapse rate and W winds aloft and P4 conditions 1300-2000. Chances for paragliding 70% early, 50% late.

6. Paragliding Whistler: -4.1 C/1000ft XXX peak lapse rate. Forecast lapse rate is suspect of being higher than actual, looks more like 3.3 day. Watch for extreme heat, lapse rate and West wind aloft.  Paragliding not recommended.

Paragliding Weather Forecast for the Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton area, based on data available at 0500.

High pressure with mostly sunny skies.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable all day. Valley wind light E outflow to 5 km/hr becoming strong inflow 20 km/hr mid afternoon in Chilliwack and Pemberton.   Novice peak lapse rate -1.2C/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft N to 22 km/hr becoming NE to 17 km/hr. Valley winds NE and becoming NW to 12 km/hr.  Novice peak lapse rate -1.4C/1000ft.  

iParaglide Right Site Ranking:

1. Paragliding Pemberton: -3.1 C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate. Forecast lapse rate is suspect of being higher than actual, looking more like a 2.7 day. With light and variable winds aloft at 3000ft, a great day for Pemberton, making triangles easy.  Mt. Mackenzie for P2 pilots 0800-1400 and 1800-2000 with P3 to P4 conditions 1400-1800. Chances for paragliding 90%.

2. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.1C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Woodside for P2 pilots 0800-1400 and 1800-2000 with increased wind and P3 conditions 1400-1800.  Bridal should be great today with P2 conditions 1000-1500 and 1800-2000 with P3 conditions 1500-1800.  Paragliding chances 90%. 

3. Paragliding Vancouver: -1.2C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Grouse for GMFT P3 Intermediate Pilots 1000-2000.  90% chances to paraglide. 

4. Paragliding Whistler: -3.3 C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate. Forecast lapse rate is suspect of being higher than actual, looks more like 3.0 day. Great day for flying with light and variable winds aloft at 3000 ft. Blackcomb for Whistler flying team 0900-2000, with paragliding prospects 90%. 

5. Paragliding Bellingham: -1.1C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate.  N wind aloft likely to not manifest at Blanchard due to proximity to ocean, however need to verify and proceed only with  caution. Paragliding prospects 70% for P3 pilots 0900-2000. 

6. Paragliding Seattle: -1.4C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. N wind aloft creating lee side conditions at Tiger.  Paragliding not recommended.

High pressure with mostly sunny skies.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable becoming NW to 31 km/hr. Valley wind light E outflow to 5 km/hr becoming strong inflow 20 km/hr early in Chilliwack and Pemberton.   Novice peak lapse rate -1.2C/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft N and increasing to 31 km/hr. Valley winds becoming NW to 10 km/hr.  Novice peak lapse rate -1.4C/1000ft.  

iParaglide Right Site Ranking:

1. Paragliding Chilliwack: -1.9C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Chilliwack calling for SW wind to 20 km/hr in afternoon.  Woodside for P2 pilots 0800-1300 then watch for increasing wind to P3 or P4 conditions. Bridal for P2 pilots 1000-1400 the watch for increasing wind to P3 or P4 conditions. Chances for paragliding P2 conditions 80% early with increasing wind and P3-P4 conditions in afternoon.   

2. Paragliding Pemberton: -3.3 C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate. Forecast lapse rate is suspect of being higher than actual, looking more like a 2.7 day. However, forecast calling for NW wind increasing to 31 km/hr in afternoon and SW wind in valley to 20 km/hr in afternoon and this may create blown out Whistler express S winds.  P2 Pilots early with 80% chances to fly 0800-1100 then watch for switch to P4 conditions with decreasing chances to fly and possible arrival of Whistler Express S wind.

3. Paragliding Vancouver: -1.2C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Grouse for GMFT P3 Intermediate Pilots 1000-2000.  90% chances to paraglide early then watch for possible strong NW aloft. 

4. Paragliding Bellingham: -1.2C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Strong wind N wind aloft forecast for Seattle.  If it does not manifest at Blanchard due to proximity to ocean, may be windows to fly for P3-P4 pilots.  Proceed only with  caution. Paragliding prospects 50%. 

5. Paragliding Whistler: -3.3 C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate. Whistler calling for  NW wind to 31 km/hr.  Paragliding not recommended.

6. Paragliding Seattle: -1.4C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Strong N wind aloft creating lee side conditions at Tiger.  Paragliding not recommended.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft NNW to 13 km/hr becoming WNW to 26 km/hr.  Valley wind light E outflow to 5 km/hr becoming strong inflow 20 km/hr early in Chilliwack and Pemberton.   Novice peak lapse rate -1.7C/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft NNW to 11 km/hr becoming lN to 20 km/hr. Valley winds light E and becoming light and variable. Novice peak lapse rate -1.8C/1000ft.

1. Paragliding Vancouver: -1.7C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Grouse for GMFT P3 Intermediate Pilots 1000-2000.  90% chances to paraglide.

2. Paragliding Bellingham: -1.7C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Nice easy day for Blanchard. P2 pilots 0800-1900. Paragliding prospects 90%. 

3. Paragliding Seattle: -2.0C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Early mixed cloud & sun forecast to clear to sunny skies. Tiger Mtn. early SW wind aloft easing to light and variable winds and smooth and easy conditions. P2 pilots 1000-2000. 80% chances to paraglide.

4. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.2C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Chilliwack calling for West wind to 20 km/hr by noon.  Woodside for P2 pilots 0800-1200 then watch for increasing wind to P3 conditions. Bridal for P2 pilots 1100-1400 the watch for increasing wind to P3 conditions. Chances for paragliding P2 conditions 80% early with increasing wind and P3 conditions in afternoon.   

5. Paragliding Pemberton: -3.6 C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate. Forecast lapse rate is suspect of being higher than actual, looking more like a 3.0 day. However, forecast calling for W wind 20 km/hr in valley NW winds to 26 km/hr at 3000 ft and this may create blown out Whistler express S winds.  P2 Pilots early wiht 80% cahnces to fly 0800-1200 then watch for switch to P4 conditions wiht decrasing cahnces to fly and possible arrival of Whistler Express S wind. 

6. Paragliding Whistler: -3.7 C/1000ft XXX peak lapse rate. Forecast lapse rate is suspect of being higher than actual but still too strong.  Whistler calling for  W wind to 20 km/hr early.  Paragliding not recommended.

High pressure with mostly sunny skies.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft NW to 17 km/hr becoming light and variable. Valley wind light E outflow to 10 km/hr becoming strong and gusty inflow 20-40 km/hr early in Chilliwack and Pemberton.   Novice peak lapse rate -1.9C/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft SW to 19 km/hr and becoming light and variable.  Valley winds light S and becoming W to 14 km/hr.  Novice peak lapse rate -2.0C/1000ft.

1. Paragliding Vancouver: -1.9C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Grouse for GMFT P3 Intermediate Pilots 1000-2000.  90% chances to paraglide.

2. Paragliding Bellingham: -1.8C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Nice easy day for Blanchard. P2 pilots 0800-1900. Paragliding prospects 90%. 

3. Paragliding Seattle: -2.0C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Early mixed cloud & sun forecast to clear to sunny skies. Tiger Mtn. early SW wind aloft easing to light and variable winds and smooth and easy conditions. P2 pilots 1000-2000. 80% chances to paraglide.

4. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.5C/1000ft Intermediate peak lapse rate. Chilliwack calling for West wind 20 gusting to 40 km/hr by noon.  Possible narrow window 0800-1000 for P2 pilots then watch for increasing wind to P3 and then P4 and then blown out conditions.  Bridal for P3 to P4 1000-1300 then watch for possible blown out conditions. Chances for paragliding 70% early with decreasing chances and for P4 pilots only as day progresses. 

5. Paragliding Pemberton: -3.6 C/1000ft XXX peak lapse rate. Forecast lapse rate is suspect of being higher than actual, looking more like a 2.7 day. However, forecast calling for strong SW wind 20-40 km/hr in valley and this may create blown out Whistler express S winds.  P4 pilots should choose to proceed or not by carefully observing actual conditions and with an abundance of caution.  

6. Paragliding Whistler: -3.7 C/1000ft XXX peak lapse rate. Forecast lapse rate is suspect of being higher than actual but still too strong.  Whistler calling for strong SW wind 20-40 km/hr early.  Paragliding not recommended.
