Top Gun Flight School

At iParaglide Top Gun Flight School, we take pride in having taught over 1900 paragliding students in our 26 years of operation.

We are the the longest running school based in Metro Vancouver. Due to our central location, we are the only school that flies all of the relevant kiting parks, training hills and mountains within a 3 hour radius of Vancouver.  This empowers pilots to get to know the key training and flying spots early, optimizes and accelerates learning, and allows them to grow into great future pilots.  

We have the reputation of being an industry leader with an emphasis on engineered safety systems, quality instruction, the finest equipment and a positive learning environment for fun and empowering flying.

We offer the highest level of accreditation, with Senior HPAC and Advanced USHPA paragliding instructors, who coach from first flight to expert paraglider pilots and teach and qualify new paragliding instructors.

Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton area paragliding weather forecast based on data available at 0500. 

High pressure with clear skies. 

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable throughout the day.  Early N outflow to 10 km/hr in Chilliwack becoming W to 10 km/hr with sea-breeze arrival. Novice peak lapse rate -1.4C/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft NNE to 10 km/hr. Valley wind light and variable becoming NW to 19 km/hr in afternoon. Intermediate peak lapse rate -2.3C/1000ft.

1. Paragliding Pemberton: -2.5C/1000ft intermediate peak lapse rate. Great day for flying Pemberton with light and variable winds aloft and early light outflow in valley.  Cross country potential in all directions with smooth easy climbs.  Mt. McKenzie 0900-1400 for P2 novice pilots and 1700-2000 with  P3 intermediate conditions at peak 1400-1700.  90% paragliding prospects. 

2. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.4C/1000ft intermediate peak lapse rate. Early light outflow expected to subside with sea-breeze arrival. Woodside for P2 pilots 0800-1300 and 1700-2000 with P3 intermediate conditions at peak 1300-1700.  Bridal should be on with light and variable winds aloft allowing anabatic flow to establish fully. 80% chances to paraglide.

3. Paragliding Bellingham: -1.8C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate.  Blanchard Mountain for P2 pilots 1000-1900. Paragliding prospects 90%. 

4. Paragliding Whistler: -2.7C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate. Great day for flying Blackcomb with light and variable winds aloft and early light outflow in valley.  Cross country potential in all directions with smooth easy climbs.  Whistler team P4 advanced pilots 0900-1900. 90% paragliding prospects. 

5. Paragliding Seattle: -2.5C/1000ft intermediate peak lapse rate. Watch for light north wind aloft causing textured conditions. Tiger for P3 pilots 1100-2000. Chances to paraglide 80%.

6. Paragliding Vancouver: -1.4C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate.  Grouse for GMFT P4 advanced pilots 1000-2000 with 70% paragliding chances.

Low pressure with mixed skies. 

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft east to 13 km/hr, easing to light and variable. Early E outflow to 15 km/hr in Chilliwack becoming W to 10 km/hr with sea-breeze arrival. Novice peak lapse rate -1.C8/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft light a variable becoming SW to 26 km/hr post 1300. Valley wind light and variable becoming W to 10 km/hr post 1300. Novice peak lapse rate -2.3C/1000ft.

3. Paragliding Vancouver: - 1.8C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate.  Grouse Mountain for GMFT P4 members 1200-1900. Chances for paragliding 70%. 

4. Paragliding Pemberton: -2.6C/1000ft intermediate peak lapse rate. Wait for early cloud to break up. Then spring conditions for P4 advanced pilots at Mt. McKenzie 1300-1800. 60% paragliding prospects. 

5. Paragliding Whistler: -2.8C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate. Wait for early cloud to break up.  Then spring conditions for Whistler team P4 advanced pilots 1200-1900. 50% paragliding prospects. 

6. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.7C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate. 30% POP. Risk of over-development and thunder showers in afternoon. Early outflow winds aloft create lee-side conditions. When sea-breeze arrives and outflow aloft subsides, watch for rough spring conditions.  Expert P4 pilots proceed or not only with due caution. Possible narrow window 1300-1800. 40% chances to paraglide.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable becoming E outflow to 22 km/hr. Fraser Valley E outflow to 10 km/hr easing as day progresses. Novice peak lapse rate -1.8C/1000ft. 

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft NE to 19 km/hr becoming SE as day progresses. Valley wind NNW to 21 km/hr. Novice peak lapse rate -2.3C/1000ft.

Bellingham paragliding: -1.9C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate. Blanchard's proximity to ocean and low altitude should set up sea breeze to not be affected by outflow aloft.  P2 pilots 0900-1900.  Chances for paragliding 80%.

Paragliding not recommended today in Vancouver, Chilliwack, Whistler, Pemberton or Seattle due to outflow NE, E or SE winds aloft at 3000 ft, leading to lee-side conditions at most sites.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable. Fraser Valley wind SE outflow to 5 km/hr becoming SW inflow to 5 km/hr as day progresses. Intermediate peak lapse rate -2.4C/1000ft. 

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft SW to 30 km/hr. Valley wind S to 23 km/hr. Intermediate peak lapse rate -2.6C/1000ft.
