Top Gun Flight School

At iParaglide Top Gun Flight School, we take pride in having taught over 1900 paragliding students in our 26 years of operation.

We are the the longest running school based in Metro Vancouver. Due to our central location, we are the only school that flies all of the relevant kiting parks, training hills and mountains within a 3 hour radius of Vancouver.  This empowers pilots to get to know the key training and flying spots early, optimizes and accelerates learning, and allows them to grow into great future pilots.  

We have the reputation of being an industry leader with an emphasis on engineered safety systems, quality instruction, the finest equipment and a positive learning environment for fun and empowering flying.

We offer the highest level of accreditation, with Senior HPAC and Advanced USHPA paragliding instructors, who coach from first flight to expert paraglider pilots and teach and qualify new paragliding instructors.

Paragliding weather forecast for Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton area based on data available at 0700.

Mostly cloudy skies with low pressure to the south. 70% Possbility of showers in Seattle area.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft SE to 26 km/hr easing to light and variable. Novice Peak lapse rate -2.2C/1000ft. 

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable. Novice Peak lapse rate -2.1C/1000ft. 

iParaglide Right Site Ranking:

Low cloudbase throughout for majority of the day puts most summits in cloud. Paragliding not recommended in Chilliwack, Whistler, Vancouver sites.  Additional chance of precipitation in Bellingham and Seattle areas makes paragliding not recommended in those areas today.

1. Pemberton Paragliding: Novice Peak Lapse rate at -2.3C/1000ft.  Pemberton Webcam showing summits clear of cloud and mostly sunny skies at 0700.  Provided it doesn't cloud in, potential window to fly Mackenzie for P2 pilots 1000-1800.  60% Paragliding chances.

Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton area paragliding weather forecast, based on data available at 0600.

Sunny becoming cloudy in most areas.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft SE to 24 km/hr becoming SW to 9 km/hr mid-day. Novice Peak lapse rate -1.8C/1000ft. 

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft SE to 13 km/hr becoming SW to 17 km/hr. Intermediate Peak lapse rate -2.4C/1000ft.

1. Paragliding Bellingham: -2.3C/1000ft: novice peak lapse rate. Wait for anabatic conditions and sea-breeze. Blanchard for P2 pilots 1100-1800.  80% paragliding prospects.

2. Paragliding Seattle: -2.4C/1000ft intermediate peak lapse rate. Tiger for P2 pilots 1000-1300 and 1700-1900, with P3 conditions 1300-1700. 80% chances to paraglide.  

3. Pemberton Paragliding: -2.8C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate.  Wait for outflow aloft to subside and lee side conditions to end. Mackenzie for P4 pilots 1300-1800. 70% chances to paraglide.

4. Vancouver Paragliding: -1.8C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate. Wait for anabatic and sea-breeze flows. GMFT P4 pilots at Grouse 1400-1800. 70% chances for paragliding.

5. Whistler Paragliding: - 3.0C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate.  Wait for outflow aloft to subside and lee-side condition to end. Strong and rough conditions thereafter.  Expert pilots only. Blackcomb 1200-1900 for Whistler flying team. Paragliding chances 60%. 

6. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.5C/1000ft intermediate lapse rate. Outflow aloft and in valley places Chilliwack sites in lee side till mid afternoon. Wait for sea-breeze arrival and anabatic flows.  Strong conditions for P4 pilots 1400 - 1800 at Woodside. 30% paragliding prospects.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft E to 15 km/hr beoming SE to 13 km/hr. Novice Peak lapse rate -2.2C/1000ft. 

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft E to 22 km/hr becoming NE to 13 km/hr. Advanced Peak lapse rate -2.7C/1000ft.

1. Paragliding Bellingham: -2.6C/1000ft: intermediate peak lapse rate. Wait for outlfow aloft to subside. Blanchard for P3 pilots 1400-1800.  70% paragliding prospects.

6. Paragliding Chilliwack: -3.0C/1000ft advanced lapse rate. Outflow aloft and in valley places Chilliwack sites in lee side, combined with strong lapse rate, makes for very rough spring conditions. Chilliwack valley winds at 0900 reporting NE winds 21 km gusting to 35 km/hr.  Paragliding not recommended.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft E to 9 km/hr switching to west to 13 km/hr. Intermediate Peak lapse rate -2.4C/1000ft. 

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft N to 9 km/hr increasing to 31 km/hr. Novice Peak lapse rate -2.3C/1000ft.

1. Paragliding Bellingham: -2.3C/1000ft: novice peak lapse rate. Blanchard for P2 pilots 0900-1800.  90% paragliding prospects.  

2. Paragliding Seattle: -2.3C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate. Good day for Tiger for P2 pilots 0900-1800. 90% chance to paraglide.  

3. Vancouver Paragliding: -2.4C/1000ft intermediate peak lapse rate. GMFT pilots at Grouse 1200-1800. Wait for switch to inflow aloft. 90% chances for paragliding.

4. Pemberton Paragliding: -2.9C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate.  Watch for strong spring conditions. Wait for anabatic winds and inflow to arrive. Mackenzie for P4 pilots 1100-1800. 80% paragliding prospects. 

5. Whistler Paragliding: - 3.1C/1000ft XXX peak lapse rate.  Blackcomb for Whistler team P4 pilots 1100-1800. Watch for for very strong spring conditions, experts only. Paragliding chances 80%. 

6. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.9C/1000ft advanced lapse rate. Wait for early katabatic conditions,  east wind aloft and outflow to subside. Watch for rough spring conditions.  Proceed or not only with due caution. Woodside for P4 pilots 1200-1800.  70% chances to paraglide.

Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton area paragliding weather forecast based on data available at 0700.

Mixed skies with low cloud base, driving rain, gusty west to south winds  and potential for thunderstorms in select areas, due to passing cold front. 

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft NW to 28 km/hr easing to 19 km/h from the west. Advanced Peak lapse rate -2.8C/1000ft. 

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft SW to 20 km/hr becoming west to 11 km/hr.  Advanced Peak lapse rate -2.7C/1000ft. 

iParaglide Right Site Ranking:

Passing cold front leads to unstable conditions. Paragliding not recommended in Chilliwack, Whistler, Pemberton or Vancouver sites.  Additional possibility of thunderstorms in Bellingham and Seattle, rules out flying in those areas today.
