Top Gun Flight School

At iParaglide Top Gun Flight School, we take pride in having taught over 1900 paragliding students in our 26 years of operation.

We are the the longest running school based in Metro Vancouver. Due to our central location, we are the only school that flies all of the relevant kiting parks, training hills and mountains within a 3 hour radius of Vancouver.  This empowers pilots to get to know the key training and flying spots early, optimizes and accelerates learning, and allows them to grow into great future pilots.  

We have the reputation of being an industry leader with an emphasis on engineered safety systems, quality instruction, the finest equipment and a positive learning environment for fun and empowering flying.

We offer the highest level of accreditation, with Senior HPAC and Advanced USHPA paragliding instructors, who coach from first flight to expert paraglider pilots and teach and qualify new paragliding instructors.

Paragliding Weather Forecast for the Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton areas, based on data available at 0600.

Low pressure with low cloud base, 30-70% POP with showers to rain in most mountainous areas.  Strong NW to SW winds aloft creating gusty inflow 20-40 km/hr in Fraser Valley. 

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft NW to 28 km/hr becoming SW to 24 km/hr.  Early W inflow to 20 km/hr becoming gusty to 40 km/hr throughout Fraser Valley. Advanced peak lapse rate -2.9C/1000ft. 

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft SW at 28 km/hr and increasing to 44 km/hr. Valley winds SW to 10 km/hr. Advanced peak lapse rate -2.8C/1000ft. 

Right Site Ranking: 

1. Paragliding in Bellingham-3.0C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate. Partly sunny today. Blanchard for P4 pilots 1000-1900. Watch for intermediate W winds developing on launch as the day progresses. Paragliding prospects 60%. 

Low cloud base,  60-100% POP and strong W winds aloft make paragliding not recommended today in Vancouver, Chilliwack, Whistler, Pemberton and Seattle.

Paragliding Weather Forecast for the Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton areas, based on data available at 0700.

Low pressure with low cloud base and mostly cloudy skies with POP increasing to 30-60% in mountain areas by mid afternoon.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft SE at 9km/hr and increasing to 24km/hr placing most sites in lee side. Valley winds E to 15 km/hr easing to light and variable late in the day. Intermediate peak lapse rate -2.4C/1000ft. 

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft S at 11km/hr and increasing to 20 km/hr.  Valley winds SW to 11 km/hr. Intermediate peak lapse rate -2.5C/1000ft.

Right Site Ranking:

Low pressure with 70% POP to rain throughout, clearing trend late in the day. 

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft SE to 37 km/hr placing most sites in lee side, easing to light and variable late in the day. Valley winds E to 20 gusting to 40 km/hr, easing to light and variable late in the day. Advanced peak lapse rate -3.0C/1000ft. 

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft SW to 22 km/hr, easing to light and variable late in the day.  Valley winds ESE to 12 km/hr and becoming WSW as the day progresses. Advanced peak lapse rate -2.7C/1000ft.

Right Site Ranking: 

With low pressure and associated rain to 70%. and passing fronts through the day, paragliding is not recommended today in Vancouver, Chilliwack, Pemberton, Whistler, Bellingham or Seattle.

Transitioning pressure. Mixed conditions with partly to fully sunny skies in morning.  Progressively clouding in select mountain areas in early to late afternoon with 30-60% POP. 

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft SE to 22 km/hr placing most sites in lee side. Valley winds SE to 20 km/hr in morning becoming west and gusting 20-40 km/hr in afternoon. Advanced peak lapse rate -3.0C/1000ft. Progressively clouding to 30% POP. 

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft light SW to 15 km/hr and increasing to 19 km/hr. Valley winds SE to 15 km/hr and becoming SW as the day progresses. Advanced peak lapse rate -3.0C/1000ft. Partly sunny.

1. Paragliding in Bellingham: -2.8C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate. Blanchard for P4 pilots 1000-1900. Watch for strong advanced SW winds developing on launch as the day progresses. Blanchard for P4 pilots 1000-1900. Paragliding prospects 80%. 

Seattle watch for strong SW winds aloft combined with high lapse rate making for rough conditions: paragliding not recommended in Seattle mountains today. 

Chilliwack Mountains in lee-side with high lapse rate, watch for turbulent conditions making paragliding not recommended today.

60% POP and arrival of strong "Whistler express" S wind this afternoon make Whistler and Pemberton not recommended for paragliding today.

Low pressure returns.  Proximity of jet stream to the south decreasing stability. Progressively clouding to showers with 40%-60% POP in mountain areas. 

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft SE to 13 km/hr progressively easting and increasing to 26 km/hr.  Valley winds SE to 20 km/hr. XXX peak lapse rate -3.3C/1000ft. 60% POP. 

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft light SE to 13 km/hr and increasing to 19 km/hr. Valley winds S to 11 km/hr and easing to light a variable as the day progresses.  Advanced peak lapse rate -3.0C/1000ft. Mostly cloudy. 

Right Site Ranking: 

Progressive clouding and 40-60% POP in mountain areas.  SE winds aloft generally not good for paragliding most local sites. Jet stream proximity to the south increasing instability. Paragliding not recommended today in Vancouver, Chilliwack, Pemberton, Whistler, Bellingham or Seattle.
