Top Gun Flight School

At iParaglide Top Gun Flight School, we take pride in having taught over 1900 paragliding students in our 26 years of operation.

We are the the longest running school based in Metro Vancouver. Due to our central location, we are the only school that flies all of the relevant kiting parks, training hills and mountains within a 3 hour radius of Vancouver.  This empowers pilots to get to know the key training and flying spots early, optimizes and accelerates learning, and allows them to grow into great future pilots.  

We have the reputation of being an industry leader with an emphasis on engineered safety systems, quality instruction, the finest equipment and a positive learning environment for fun and empowering flying.

We offer the highest level of accreditation, with Senior HPAC and Advanced USHPA paragliding instructors, who coach from first flight to expert paraglider pilots and teach and qualify new paragliding instructors.

Paragliding Weather Forecast for the Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton area, based on data available at 0500.

High pressure with low aloft bringing mixed skies and 30% POP and risk of thunderstorm to Pemberton-Whistler area, other areas mostly sunny. 

YVR  3000 ft winds aloft light and variable. Valley winds early light E outflow to 10 km/hr becoming SW to 10km/hr. 

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable. Valley winds becoming W to 10 km/hr.

1. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.1C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Woodside for P2 pilots  0800-1400 and 1800-2100 with P3 conditions at peak 1400-1800.  Bridal with P2 conditions 1100-1500 and 1800-2100 with P3 conditions at peak 1500-1800. Paragliding chances 90%. 

2. Paragliding Vancouver: -1.6C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate.  Grouse for GMFT 1100-2000 for P3 pilots. Chances for paragliding 90%.

3. Paragliding Seattle: -1.7C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate.  Tiger for P2 pilots 0800-2100. Chances for paragliding 90%. 

4. Paragliding Bellingham: -1.3C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Blanchard for P2 pilots 0900-1900. Chances to paraglide 90%. 

5. Paragliding Pemberton: -3.0C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate. Pemberton 30% POP and risk of thunderstorm.  P4 pilots choose to fly or not accordingly.

Paragliding Weather Forecast for the Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton area, based on data available at 0500.

High pressure with low aloft bringing mixed skies to mountain areas.  

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft SE to 22 km/hr easing to 15 km/hr.  Main valley wind in Vancouver with early gusty SE wind to 25 km/hr becoming West to 10 km/hr km/hr in afternoon. Chilliwack with light and variable winds becoming SW to 20 km/hr midday.  

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft S to 10 km/hr and easing to light and variable. Valley winds WSW to 10 km/hr.

1. Paragliding Seattle: -1.7C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate.  Tiger for P2 pilots 0800-2000. Chances for paragliding 90%. 

2. Paragliding Bellingham: -1.3C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Blanchard for P2 pilots 0900-1900. Chances to paraglide 90%. 

3. Paragliding Vancouver: -1.7C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate.  Vancouver with early gusty SE wind to 25 km/hr.  Wind aloft at 3000 ft also forecast out of the SE placing Grouse in potential lee-side.  Wait to see if positive W flow establishes mid afternoon. Grouse for GMFT 1400-2000 for P3 pilots. Chances for paragliding 50%.

4. Paragliding Chilliwack: -1.8C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Woodside wind station reporting early light lee-side wind.  SE  wind aloft forecast placing Woodside and Bridal in potential lee-side.  Then watch for strong arrival of sea-breeze at 1300 and shear layer aloft. P4 pilots chose to fly or not accordingly. Paragliding chances 30%. 

5. Paragliding Pemberton: -2.7C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate. Pemberton with SE winds aloft, 30% POP and risk of thunderstorm.  Paragliding not recommended today. 

6. Paragliding Whistler: -2.9C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate. Whistler with SE winds aloft, 30% POP and risk of thunderstorm.  Paragliding not recommended today.

Paragliding Weather Forecast for the Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton area, based on data available at 0500.

High pressure with mostly sunny skies throughout. 

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft NW to 20 km/hr easing to 13 km/hr.  Main valley wind in Vancouver with early gusty NW wind 35-50 km/hr easing to 20 km/hr mid afternoon. Chilliwack with light and variable winds becoming SW to 20 km/hr midday.  

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft N 22 km/hr and increasing to 28 km/hr.  Valley winds NNW to 15 km/hr. 

iParaglide Right Site Ranking:

1. Paragliding Bellingham: -2.0C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Watch for possible NW wind aloft and rough conditions. Blanchard for P3 pilots 1100-1900. Chances to paraglide 70%. 

2. Paragliding Vancouver: -2.4C/1000ft Intermediate peak lapse rate.  Vancouver with early gusty W wind to 50 km/hr.  Wait to see if wind settles early afternoon. Grouse for GMFT 1300-2000 for P3 pilots. Chances for paragliding 50%.

3. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.7C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate. Woodside wind station reporting early W wind to 10 km/hr. Watch for possible blown out conditions by 1100.  Woodside for P4 pilots 0900-1100 then watch for possible blown out conditions.  Paragliding chances 40%. 

4. Paragliding Pemberton: -3.3C/1000ft XXX peak lapse rate. Pemberton with strong NW winds aloft and probable arrival of Whistler Express S wind.  Watch for XXX conditions.  XXX pilots chose to fly or not accordingly. 

5. Paragliding Seattle: -2.2C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate.  Watch for strong north wind aloft and lee side conditions.  Do not fly. 

6. Paragliding Whistler: -3.9C/1000ft extreme peak lapse rate combined with probable arrival of strong Whistler Express S wind. Do not fly.

High pressure with mostly sunny skies in Seattle, Bellingham, Chilliwack, Vancouver. Whistler and Pemberton. 

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft NW 22 km/hr easing to 13 km/hr. Main valley wind in Vancouver with early SE to 10 km/hr becoming inflow W to 15 km/hr mid morning.  Chilliwack with light and variable winds becoming W 20 gusting to 40 by late morning.

iParaglide Right Site Ranking:

1. Paragliding Vancouver: -2.3C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate.   Grouse for GMFT 1100-2000 for P3 pilots. Watch for possible NW wind in afternoon shutting things down. Chances to paraglide 80%.

2. Paragliding Pemberton: -3.2C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate. Pemberton with 30 km/hr SW winds forecast. Paraglding not recommended in Pemberton today.

3. Paragliding Whistler: -3.5C/1000ft XXX peak lapse rate combined with forecast for SW winds to 30 km/hr means blown out and XXX conditions, do not paraglide in Whistler today.

4. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.8C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate. Woodside wind station already reporting blown out conditions SW 14 gusting to 29 km/hr at 0500 and multiple weather models predicting blown out conditions by 1000.  XXX conditions in Chilliwack today, do not paraglide.

Paragliding Weather Forecast for the Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton area, based on data available at 0500.

High pressure at lower elevations with upper level low with mostly sunny skies in Seattle, Bellingham, Chilliwack, and Vancouver, but in moutnain areas potential for increasing cloud aloft and potential for overdevelopment in late afternoon.  

Whistler Pemberton with 30% POP and risk of thunder storm in afternoon.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable becoming NW to 24 km/hr.  Main valley wind in Vancouver with early E to 15 km/hr becoming inflow W to 15 km/hr mid afternoon.  Chilliwack with light and variable winds becoming W to 20 km/hr in mid afternoon. 

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable. Valley winds SW to 10 km/hr.

3. Paragliding Vancouver: -1.6C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate.   Grouse for GMFT 1200-2000 for P3 pilots. Watch for possible NW wind in afternoon shutting things down. Chances to paraglide early 90%, late 60%.

4. Paragliding Bellingham: -2.1C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Blanchard for P2 pilots 0900-1900. Chances to paraglide 90%. 

5. Paragliding Pemberton: -3.2C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate. Pemberton with 30% POP and risk of thunder storm.  Watch for XXX conditions.  XXX pilots chose to fly or not accordingly.
