Weather Synopsis for paraglider pilots. High pressure brings sunny skies. YVR and Seattle winds aloft through 6000ft forecast through to 13:00 as light and variable. Ground stations in Hope and Chilliwack at 09:00 reporting gusty east outflow winds to 38km/hr and calling for windy conditions today.
Vancouver: Lapse 0.6. Grouse seasonally closed to paragliding for winter. GMFT members only.
Chilliwack: Lapse 0.7. Outflow and catabatic conditions are likely to persist through the day, although winds aloft are not a contributor. With Hope and Chilliwack ground stations calling for windy conditions throughout the day, paragliding is not recommended.
Pemberton: Lapse -0.5. Check valley wind for absence of outflow. Snowshoe and paraglide Mackenzie 14:00.
Bellingham: Lapse 0.7. Blanchard should be great today for paragliding due to proximity to ocean and sea breeze establishing 12:00-16:00. Drive to first hump, stop and walk ahead to check for ice in depression, if so, park before that section of road. Hike the short distance (7 minutes) to launch. Best bet for P2-P4 paraglider pilots. Low altitude means less snow, if any, on the road.
