At iParaglide Top Gun Flight School, we take pride in having taught over 2,000 paragliding students in our 27 years of operation.

 

We are the longest running school based in Metro Vancouver. Due to our central location, we are the only school that flies all of the relevant kiting parks, training hills and mountains within a 3 hour radius of Vancouver.  This empowers pilots to get to know the key training and flying spots early, optimizes and accelerates learning, and allows them to grow into great future pilots.  

We have the reputation of being an industry leader with an emphasis on engineered safety systems, quality instruction, the finest equipment and creating a positive learning environment for fun and empowering flying.

We offer the highest level of accreditation, with Senior HPAC and Advanced USHPA paragliding instructors, who coach from first flight to expert paraglider pilots and teach and qualify new paragliding instructors.

High pressure brings sunny skies.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable. Valley wind light E outflow to 5 km/hr becoming light W inflow to 10 km/hr.  Novice peak lapse rate -1.3C/1000ft.  

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable. Valley winds W to 10 km/hr. Novice peak lapse rate -2.2C/1000ft.

1. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.6C/1000ft intermediate peak lapse rate. Wait for early outflow to subside. Woodside for P2 pilots 0800-1300 and 1700-2100 with possible P3 intermediate conditions at peak, however forecast lapse rate is suspect of being higher than actual so P2 conditions may persist throughout.  Good day for Bridal with light and variable winds aloft for P2 pilots 1100-1400 and 1700-2100 with with possible P3 intermediate conditions at peak, however forecast lapse rate is suspect of being higher than actual so P2 conditions may persist throughout. Paragliding prospects 90%.

High pressure brings sunny skies, mild winds and easy lapse rates. 

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft NNW to 11 km/h becoming NW to 9 km/hr. Valley wind light E outflow to 5 km/hr becoming light W inflow to 10 km/hr.  Novice peak lapse rate -1.5C/1000ft.  

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft N and increasing to 28 km/hr. Valley winds N and becoming NW to 10 km/hr. Novice peak lapse rate -2.1C/1000ft. 

iParaglide Right Site Ranking:

1. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.3C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate. Woodside for P2 pilots 0900-1300 and 1700-2100 with possible P3 conditions at peak 1300-1700. Bridal should be great today with light North Winds aloft creating dynamic lift along entire ridge line. Bridal for P2 pilots 1100 -1500 and 1700-2100 with possible P3 conditions at peak 1500-1700.  Paragliding prospects 90%.

2. Paragliding Pemberton: -2.6C/1000ft intermediate peak lapse rate. Pemberton should be great today with light North wind aloft dampening arrival of sea-breeze, making for light and variable conditions and enhanced anabatic flows up all mountain slopes. Smooth and easy XC in any direction.  Upper Mackenzie 0900-1400 and 1800-2100 for P2 pilots with P3 intermediate conditions 1400-1800.  Chances to fly 90%.

3. Paragliding Whistler: -3.2C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate.  Great day with light and variable winds aloft and strong lapse rate. Whistler Team P4 Advanced pilots 0900-2100. Watch for very strong thermals 1200-1700. 90% chances for paragliding.

4. Paragliding Vancouver: -1.5C/1000ft novice peak lapse rate.  Grouse Mountain for GMFT P4 advanced paragliding pilots 1000-2000. 90% paragliding chances.  

5. Paragliding Seattle: -2.1C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Tiger may have strong North winds aloft today. P2 conditions may exist early 0800-1100 then watch for increasing N wind and change to P3 or P4 or even blown out conditions as the day progresses. Chances to paraglide 70%.

6. Paragliding Bellingham: -1.8C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Blanchard with possbile increasing NW crosswind in the day.  Be careful of possible switch to leeside conditions due to strong N wind aloft. Advanced P4 pilots should choose or not choose to fly acdoordingly.  Paragliding chances 50%.

Paragliding Weather forecast for Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Squamish, Whistler & Pemberton areas, based on data available at 0500.

Low pressure to NW brings scattered showers to rain and low cloud base in mountain areas throughout. 

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft SSE to 15 km/hr becoming SSW to 24 km/hr. Valley flow E outflow to 15 km/hr becoming west inflow to 5 km/hr by mid afternoon. Novice peak lapse rate -2.3C/1000ft.  

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft SSW to 15 km/hr becoming SE to 39 km/hr. Valley winds light and variable and becoming SW to 10 km/hr.  Intermediate peak lapse rate -2.4C/1000ft.

With low pressure and associated showers to rain and low cloud base: paragliding is not recommended today in Vancouver, Chilliwack, Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton, Bellingham or Seattle.
